I worked in Asia during the1980’s and was struck by how people can be affected by change and challenging situations. The experience led to finding out more about myself and about counselling, and how it can be helpful in resolving peoples’ emotional difficulties.
Working with adults with learning difficulties after returning to Scotland added to my interest, and having worked through COSCA modules in counselling I finally had the opportunity to take and complete a post graduate diploma course in integrative counselling, completed in 2003.
During the diploma course my placement was with Kerith during its early days, and I have volunteered with Kerith ever since. This was followed by achieving BACP accreditation in 2008.
I currently work with people with a wide range of issues, using an integrative model and specialising in psychodynamic therapy. I have developed a particular interest in working with people who experience ongoing difficulties through negative childhood experiences.
