Although I have worked and trained in subjects as diverse as theology and horticulture, I have always been interested in people. This was particularly true while working in Asia, and discovering both the cultural differences and essential similarities of people of many nationalities. It was also during that time when I became interested in counselling, and how beneficial it could be, both for myself and for others who experienced problems as a result of working in unusual and stressful situations.
More recently I have been working with adults with learning difficulties. I started to recognise the value of counselling skills in working with people who often had low self-worth and difficulty in expressing their feelings. Having tasted some training in the subject, I soon found this was something I wanted to explore further, with the result that two years ago I completed a diploma course in counselling and now work as a counsellor within Kerith.
