John McKinnon Chairman
I was born in 1962 and raised in Glasgow, after an undistinguished school career, I began work in the printing trade. In my early twenties I was called to study for the Ministry at The Bible Training Institute of Glasgow, and following graduation initiated an innovative youth project in Linlithgow. The project was designed to address the rising drug culture prevalent at that time through street work, schools and prisons. I then progressed to become an Evangelist and Bible teacher, principally in Scotland but also throughout the U.K and overseas.
This gave me the opportunity to serve as a director or advisor to a number of significant charities; Mission Aviation Fellowship (world wide relief organisation) UCCF (working with student in universities and colleges) Evangelical Alliance (working with individuals and churches) Haldane Trust (youth project serving Stirling area) Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (world wide communicators of the Christian message) and Scripture Union Scotland (serving schools and churches)
I came to East Kilbride in August 2003 to be Minister of Calderwood Baptist Church where I’m privileged to serve a great community of people and participate in the life of our schools and wider community. I have and eclectic taste in music and enjoy good food, good malt and good company. I’m married to Linda and have three grown up children and one dog. In my spare time I like nothing better than to source, buy, sell, acquire or mess about with… motor cars!
