Gillian Norval
Counsellor
I first developed an interest in counselling while working in Asia. Working in a different culture produces stresses which can bring about all sorts of emotional difficulties. I learnt quite a bit about myself and people in general, and recognised that counselling could be helpful in resolving emotional problems.
Since then I have been working with people who have learning difficulties. I started to recognise how useful counselling skills would be within that work, and decided to do further counselling training.
I completed a Post Grad. Diploma course in 2003. During that time I had a student placement within Kerith, and have volunteered there ever since. I trained in EMDR (a treatment for symptoms of trauma) in 2007, and achieved BACP accreditation in 2008.
